E-commerce - product list / addition
These pages are replicas of the administration system, without the
functionality.
Use the headings below and near
the bottom of the page to navigate the visual help pages (follow
the links as you would if you were logged into your control panel).
Simply work your way to the point at which you are stuck
and read the relevant notes.
Alternatively click here to go to the help contents and ask specific
questions which will lead you directly to the answer.
Products set up page This page is where you can add products,
edit or delete existing products and export products out of the
system for backup purposes.
Add
ProductTakes you to the product
addition page. Once a product is added it shows on the list
below.
List of products:-
Shows a complete list of all products
in your sales system. To simplify the list, you can show products
by category. As there is no assumed limit to the number of products
we would advise you split products into more categories if the
list becomes too large to make the shopping experience easier
for your visitors.

Brief description goes here and shows under the ca...
Hitting the edit button
takes you to the same page as the add product button, but
with the particular product details shown for editing.
To delete a product first tick the delete box next
to the product and then hit the delete button.
The tick box to the right of the heading 'List of products' above
will tick all of the products showing
You can then:
either delete all the products showing in the list
(if you first select the products from a particular category, only
these will be deleted)
or
Choose to export the products in a selected category
or all off the products.
Exporting can be by an e-mail sent to your administrative
e-mail account or by saving directly to your had drive as a text
file. In practice, you would normally export ALL products as one
file for reimporting if there is a problem with your database. However,
if you have a particularly large selection of products we would
advise you export categories individually and then re import them
individually should the need arise.
You can use the export facility to show you the exact
layout of the import file needed should you wish to set up products
and categories in bulk.
Product page set up:-
(list of products per category)
Template page that product page use
as standard: Lists the template html page used as the
basis of all your product pages. The file is kept in the shopping
/standard directory on your site.
Alter this file and you will alter all
the product pages. If you have several templates, choosing a
different template file here will instantly alter all your live
product pages.
Products listed per page: Decides how many products are listed per
catalogue page. If you have 11 products in a category and you
choose 10 here then a second catalogue page will show with the
11th product listed and appropriate links at the bottom of the
category pages to allow your visitor to navigate the site.
Price format: The price symbol shown on the category and
product pages in front of the product price.
Importing of multi line files is possible,
so that descriptions of goods with new lines in the text are
possible, provided no @@ or ; symbols are found in the text
or the system will suppose that you mean a new record or field.
IF you import duplicate records the system
will allow overwrite of existing fields for easy update after
checking that you agree with this. If you do not you can skip
the particular file or abort the process from that stage onwards.
If you have a particularly large database it
would be as wise to split it down on import to prevent problems.
Exported data from the system can be reimported
at a later date through this section, allowing you to make
a database backup of manually entered records.
Categories are automatically set up if no suitable
one exists. If no category is specified products are imported
with no category for you to choose later. Category descriptions
cannot be exported or imported, just the name of the category.
For this reason it is important that you copy and paste out
descriptions from the category set up area if you wish to
make a backup of these details.
Importing products does not automatically upload
images, as the process involves browsing from your hard drive.
However, you can upload images of appropriate name to the
images directory (yoursitename/shopping/standard/images) and
the database will already be referencing them into the system.
To import drop
the text file into this box in the format as specified below:
